Open-source licences
Version 1 · In effect from 26 September 2026
The Showfinch studio does its work in your browser, on your device. Much of what makes that possible was written by other people and shared openly. This page lists that software, who made it, and the terms we use it under.
1. LibRaw: reading camera RAW files
The photo studio reads the sensor data in camera RAW files (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG and others) with LibRaw 0.22.1, compiled to WebAssembly from source.
- Licence: LibRaw is offered by its authors under a choice of the GNU LGPL 2.1 or the Common Development and Distribution License 1.0. We use it under the CDDL-1.0.
- Source: the source of the version we ship is github.com/LibRaw/LibRaw at tag 0.22.1.
- Changes: none. LibRaw is compiled exactly as published. Our own code only calls LibRaw’s public interface and copies the finished picture out. The build leaves out optional JPEG, JPEG 2000 and colour-profile support, which the studio does not use. It adds nothing.
- Copyright © 2008–2025 LibRaw LLC (libraw.org). LibRaw includes code from dcraw by Dave Coffin; DCB demosaic and FBDD denoise by Jacek Gozdz and Luis Sanz Rodríguez (BSD 3-clause); the X3F library by Roland Karlsson (BSD-style); and parts of the Adobe DNG SDK (MIT). Their full notices are in the file below.
2. Models
Your browser downloads these the first time you use the tool that needs them, and keeps them on your device. Your pictures, video and sound are never sent to anyone to be run through them.
